Chapter 10
It’s not easy backtracking the way one came into a forest as one would think, and StellaLuna was finding that out. And although everything didn’t seem unfamiliar, she couldn’t see … or smell … anything real familiar. The forest suddenly felt very big and strange … and a little scary. “Did I go straight, ... left, ... or right, where these paths cross … and which way should I go now?” she thought to herself.
She chose a path that eventually would lead her to a bridge that crossed a creek. She stopped shortly before the path got to the bridge and said to herself, ” I don’t remember this bridge … or this creek”. As she turned around to go back the way she came, she heard what sounded like someone singing to music coming from the other side of the bridge. “Maybe that’s someone who can help,” she said to herself with a bit of hope as she once again went to where she hadn't been before, and went up to the bridge.
Once she got to the bridge, she saw on the other side of the bridge, a face in the tree that was next to the bridge. The tree was singing words of rhyme with the rhythm of the music. She walked over to the tree and put her paws up on the bridge handrail and said, "Hello, I'm StellaLuna and I was wondering if you could help me?”
The music continued to play as the tree looked at her and said “Hello, I'm Bluegie Bear, I make sounds that move your soul, loved by the young and the old. With my roots in the creek, I create a hypnotic beat. And with the wind through my leaves, I make sounds to set you free. My critter friends in the forest love to chirp in a chord or three. Would you care to give a listen, and see?
“I do love what I’m hearing,” said StellaLuna “but I'm wondering if you can help me, because I don’t know where I am.”
“You're chilling right here … waiting to hear … the Bluegie Bear,” said Bluegie Bear.
“But I don’t know where here is,” said StellaLuna. “I’m trying to get back to where I entered the forest. Everything seems so familiar, and unfamiliar at the same time. I don’t know which way to go to get back to where I was.”
“It sounds like Lost has found you”, said Bluegie Bear.
"Who's Lost?”, said StellaLuna.
“E's more a where, than a who”, said Bluegie Bear. “E lives in the place of time and space, and doesn’t have a known face.” Sensing that StellaLuna was worried, the sounds from the creek and the leaves started making a more relaxed and soothing sound as Bluegie Bear continued to speak. “E loves to play hide and seek, and is always playing with someone or something. Rumor has it that e has hidden things that have yet to be found. Today e’s found you and now you're lost.”
"Has Lost ever found you, Bluegie Bear?," said StellaLuna, "Can you help me?"
"My roots run deep here, and I am pretty much anchored in this space, so Lost has never found me there. But e has found me in time, which is very scary, especially if you're a musician. The only way to lose Lost that I know of is to find something you know, I was able to find my way back when I found the right note, and then I lost Lost. But, you're lost in space, something I'm not familiar with. I have no idea how to help you to lose Lost. But there is hope” continued Bluegie, "my friend Scheherazade is a storyteller and is very close by. She might be able to help, they say she knows more than a thousand stories, and some are about others that Lost has found, and all of them eventually lost Lost … just continue to follow the path, she roots slightly off the path very close to here."
“I met a storyteller, his name was Homer. Do you know him?” said StellaLuna.
“No, but Scheherazade might know of him,” said BluegieBear. “Storytellers love to keep in contact with each other and share stories.”
“Thank you so much,” said StellaLuna. “I’d like to give you a kiss, but you’re all mossy.” Which made BluegieBear laugh. “Bye, and thank you,” said StellaLuna as she continued on the path.
