Chapter 1 StellaLuna ... the puppy who helped me rediscover the forest.             StellaLuna was just a little puppy when her human brought her home to live with him and his family. Since she was a German Shepherd puppy, she was already bigger than her older brother and two sisters: Scamp the Jack Russell, Lola the Chihuahua, and Oreo the cat. She was definitely too big for her sister's little chihuahua bed, that she loved to lay in … and chew on … whenever she got a chance. Eventually, the little bed would become her chew woobie, and Lola would get a new Chihuahua bed; although … anyone who knows Lola, knows that she prefers to sleep under the blankets that sit on top of the giant bed in the bedroom, which is accessible by private stairs, of course.        At first, StellaLuna thought her name was Puppy. She remembers all the humans would say, “Oh what a cute puppy, hi puppy, who's the good puppy … puppy, puppy, puppy”. Oreo, the eldest of the three, told her that all dogs are called Puppy until they get their person name. She soon learned hers was StellaLuna, after a baby bat from a book … that her human liked to read to his children when they were little.
