Chapter 2

StellaLuna decided her human's name must be Me … because he would say things like: “StellaLuna, are you happy to see me? StellaLuna, do you want to go for a walk with me? StellaLuna, come sit with me.” Me was a pet sitter. He would drive all around town in his Crittercar, going to several different homes a day, to take care of, and play with, the dogs, cats, and other critters that lived there while their humans were either away working or traveling.

At first, when Me used to go to work to take care of the many critters, StellaLuna would have to stay home in a large pet crate; because young puppies shouldn't be allowed to wander about the house when left alone, there is way too much mischief to make. And even though she had a nice fluffy blanket, some treats, and all sorts of toys to chew on to keep her busy, and hopefully happy. StellaLuna did not like the arrangement, and StellaLuna, being StellaLuna, objected loudly, and most importantly, continuously, until people started to take notice of her objections. She did not want to STAY HOME ALONE!!!

Me pondered over this dilemma, and being a person of reasonable intelligence, thought that maybe, StellaLuna might be happier riding around in the Crittercar with him. He could confine her to the front seat of the car, and any puppy mischief would be contained. So he placed some toys, and a car bone in the front passenger seat next to his. He then got StellaLuna, showed her her seat in the car, and helped her get in since her puppy legs were still too short. They drove to a customer's house, and then he told her that she would have to wait in the car and behave while he took care of the critters. And she did!

StellaLuna loved riding in the Crittercar, getting to see … and more importantly smell, all the different places while they drove around town. StellaLuna always had to have her car window open, at least a crack, even on rainy days, so she could smell all the different smells outside. When Me was taking care of a critter, she would chew on her car bone, stare out the window, or just take a nap while she waited for him. And, other than that one time a few teeth marks appeared on the emergency brake handle that she must have mistaken for a bone, she always behaved herself. Mischief managed.

It didn’t take very long for the puppy version of StellaLuna to quickly outgrow the front seat. Eventually, Me would have to move all her toys, and her car bone, to the back seat. She got to have the whole backseat for herself. Which comes with two windows, and of course, both windows had to be open at least a crack … all the time.

Even though StellaLuna had to stay in the Crittercar when Me was visiting with his critter clients; whenever he took some of the dogs for a walk, she could see, smell, and say hello through her windows, to all the dogs that went for a walk with Me. She loved saying hello to Pearl, Lucky, Henry, Holly, Buddy, George, Annabelle, Bailey, Sam, Chewy, Luke, Jasmine, Ki, Ringo, Lady Bug, Haley, Pebbles, Molly, Jake, and NR …to name a few. Me did walk a lot of dogs. Now, you would think that StellaLuna would be a little jealous of all the dogs that got to go on a walk with Me. But sometimes, she would get to go on the walk too, and … whenever Me would find a break in the day between pet sits, just StellaLuna and Me would go for a walk in a nearby park. StellaLuna loves to go for walks.
